Champions Calmore Sports were among several sides to be grateful for the rain intervention as Andover were denied a potential Southern Premier League Division 1 win at London Road.
Last season’s league winners were struggling at 68-3 in response to Andover’s 231 when the rains came and the match was abandoned.
Andover experienced early problems against left-armer Steve Wright (3-31), but opener Ali Hooper (12 fours in his 57), aided by debutants Robin Liney (22) and Nathan Birks (24) steadied the ship.
A four-wicket spell by James Rose (4-32) clawed back the initiative for Calmore, whose work was undone when at 141-9, wicketkeeper Matt Knight (48 not out) was joined by last man Luke Graham, who powered 49 and lifted the Lions to 231 all out.
The pair added 90 for the tenth wicket, the duo each hitting six boundaries and Graham a maximum.
Spinner Matt Hooper (2-13) had Calmore’s backs to the wall at 68-3 when the rains came.
At 87-7 (Chris Russell 3-18), Portsmouth were in a worse state at Ventnor, while Hartley Wintney were 129-8 (Scott Baldwin 38 not out) against Sarisbury Athletic, and Liphook & Ripsley 130-6 against Hook & Newnham Basics.
