New Forest cattle scatter as Cam Basey goes big
Already-relegated Bashley (Rydal) recorded only their third victory in the ECB Southern Premier Cricket League Premier Division season, beating Burridge by five wickets.
It has been a tough 2026 campaign for the New Forest club, who found themselves unable to counter a brown envelope epidemic and were rooted to the foot of the table for some time.
Electing to field first after winning the toss at The Ridge, it was the combination of George Wilson and Jayden Gengan who caught the eye with the ball for Bashley.
South African Gengan (3-26) removed half of Burridge’s top four while the loyal Wilson weighed in with 3-23.
Alvin Cameron also got in on the wicket-taking act with 2-27, as Burridge was dismissed for a total of 104, opener Joe Collings-Wells (27) top scorer.
In reply, Jack Stearman also scored 27 for Bashley, and together with opener Cameron Basey, they put on a partnership of 50 for the second wicket.
Basey eventually departed for 21, but it was Michael Porter who got the away side over the winning line as he hit six fours on his way to an unbeaten score of 34 from 35 deliveries.
