Gosport Borough have signed one of Queensland's most promising young cricketers as their overseas player of the upcoming Southern Premier League season.
He is 20-year old Sam Chapman, from Brisbane, who has laundered 44 wickets for his club side, Gold Coast in Queensland's Premier League this term.
A recent past Queensland U19 state bowler, Chapman plays in the same Brisbane competition as left-hand opener Ollie Lunt, who scored a staggering 1532 runs in third and fourth tier SPL cricket in 2023 and 2024.
Chapman, left, took 6-28 for Gold Coast in a recent First Grade match in Brisbane.
Despite the young Aussie's arrival, Gosport will need one of their home grown players to step up to the plate with the bat this summer as they look to put their 2024 relegation from Division 2 behind them. They start with a derby against Fareham & Crofton at Privett Park.
