Ricky Rawlins hit an unbeaten century to steer Sarisbury Athletic to a five-wicket win over Sparsholt, who lag 30 points behind Southern Premier League Division One leaders Hook & Newnham Basics.
He hit 15 boundaries in what was his fourth SPL hundred as Sarisbury successfully chased down Sparsholt’s 209 all out with five balls to spare.
Rawlins, pictured, who made 101 not out, shared a significant 89-run partnership with Tom Nightingale (53) before Michael Haworth (3-22) caused a few jitters.
Sparsholt skipper Jerry Frith conceded “we were a yard behind Sarisbury for virtually the whole game”.
They appeared to be well set at 99-2, but left-arm spinner Sam Hill (4-32) triggered a collapse which saw Sparsholt lose four wickets for 11 runs, including that of top scorer Haworth (49).
Dave Banks (24) and Liam Doran (24) rallied, while the last two wickets produced a handy 40 runs before Jordan Wright (3-61) finished things off.
Fraser Hay (6-36) and Reuben McArdle (3-40) skittled New Milton for a paltry 76 (Lee Beck 26) inside 21 overs at Fernhill, where James Christian (40) and Will Smitherman (31) swept visiting Portsmouth to a ten-wicket win.
