Lead Southern Premier Division 1 pair Ventnor and Portsmouth, separated by two points, face testing round 5 away days at Alton and Sarisbury Athletic, respectively.
The duo has each won three of their four matches, with Ventnor having inflicted a crushing Will Mew inspired nine-wicket defeat on Basingstoke & North Hants last weekend.
Alton have Mark Heffernan and Mike Salmon back and give a debut to talented teenage all-rounder Huw Wheeler, whose promising Academy career was ravaged by injury two seasons ago.
The match up between Alton’s South African seamer Bash Walters and Dineth Thimodya , the Sri Lankan left-hander for Ventnor, could be significant at the Jubilee Ground.
Alton: Gonella, Harris, Wheeler, Myers, Heffernan MP, South, Heffernan MJ, Gadsby, Walters, Salmon, Appavoo.
With 247 runs to his name, Portsmouth’s left-hand opener Ben Duggan is the lead Division 1 batsman and he’ll look to enhance his status against unchanged Sarisbury Athletic at Allotment Road.
Duggan was in peak form last weekend, scoring an excellent 112 in the seven-wicket St Helen’s win over Alton.
Joe Kooner-Evans returns for Portsmouth, eager to put a disappointing start to the season for Neath in the South Wales Premier League behind him. But the injured Richard Walker (broken toe) remains sidelined.
Sarisbury Athletic: J Hill, Grierson, Mills, Floyd, Rawlins, Feltham, Franklin, Harris, Wright, Degrussa, S Hill.
Portsmouth: Duggan, Marston, Jalil, Christian, Wimble, Daini, Kooner-Evans, Woolf, Silva, McArdle, Rao.
Every fortnight Calmore Sports put their national Village Cup defence up alongside an important SPL1 fixture and this weekend is no exception with a tricky trip to Rowledge preceding Sunday’s county VC final at Bramshaw.
The clubs lie third and fourth in the log, with identical records of three wins from four games.
Rowledge team selection continues to reflect a revolving door with their university students in and out of the side – Zac Le Roux returning, but Jonty Seeborn missing, alongside the Ryman brothers. Ben Davidson gets a debut.
Rowledge: Ben Wish, Jake Wish, Zac Le Roux, David Lloyd, Ricky Yates, Bertie Chilcott, Ollie Baker, Ash Harvey, Ryan Littlewood, Richard Forbes, Ben Davidson.
Calmore Sports: Bailey, Brewster, Carty, Croft, Johns, Johnson, Lavelle, Manning, Perry, Taylor, Wright.
With Dave Banks absent, Jeremy Frith skippers winless Sparsholt at Liphook & Ripsley – the visitors’ captain having the added responsibility of skippering the side in addition to being their main outlet for runs and wickets.
Sparsholt: Frith, Sumner, Berrell, May, Berzins, Collison, Doran, Ley, O Wliliams, Lovell, J Williams.
In the other SPL1 match, New Milton face a long trek to Basingstoke & North Hants.

There’s also just two points in it at the top of Division 2 where leaders Andover host Fair Oak and second placed Hambledon go to Hook & Newnham Basics II.
Andover: Ashman, Williams, Roberts, Ayers, Hooper, Knight, Smith, Nyumbu, Veettil, Jansen, Adams.
Fifteen year old Oli Cordery, left, one of the Academy’s last wicket heroes against Havant on the opening day of the season, gets a rare run out for Hambledon against Hook II at the KGV.
Hook, who celebrated their first win last weekend, have lost Richard Willcock to the first team, so Lewis Watts comes in.
Hook & Newnham Basics II: Bruin, Light, Franklin, James, Doran, May T, Moore, Wyatt, May O, Balcombe, Watts.
Hambledon: George Marshall, Daniel McGovern, Henry Glanfield, Matt De Villiers, Chris Pratt, Spencer Leclercq, Mark Butcher, Jonty Oliver, Oliver Cordery, Ben Reilly, James Restell.
Waterlooville have Josh McCoy back for the testing visit to third-placed Hartley Wintney, but a tight hamstring means Jon Hudson will be spectating
Reflecting upon last weekend, Director of Cricket Andy Reynolds said: “Andover played well, but we were dreadful, a bad day in the office. We will now where we stand after going to Hartley Wintney.”
Joe Vaughan will be hoping to continue his rich vein of form when OTs & Romsey go to Bashley (Rydal) II.
The Loughborough University student has made unbeaten scores of 85 and 110 in the last two weeks, in addition to taking eight wickets with his left-arm spin.
Division 2’s bottom two, Fawley and winless St Cross Symondians II meet at Holbury.
Portsmouth & Southsea will expect to extend their four-match winning start when Division 3 strugglers Basingstoke & North Hants visit St James’s Park.
Similarly, second placed Sway will be favourites to beat Havant II at the Jubilee Field, especially with Huw Bernard back in the line up.
Sway: Noble, Prince, Barnard, Jones, Grasham, Steadman, Hall, Marshall, Ramwell, Burton, Waller.
Langley Manor go to Gosport Borough, whose hopes of fielding a full strength side were dented when West Indian opener Denzil James was called up by the Army.
Gosport Borough: L Harrop, M Toogood, R Harrop, S Taylor, V Richards, J Karippai, C Pennicott, T Chicot, G Kitchin, S Prathapasinghe, J Richards.
Paultons came a cropper losing by five wickets to Gosport last weekend, so skipper Simon Ennew will be looking for a significant improvement at basement side Purbrook.
He said: “Watching from the side-lines it felt like we never got out of first gear against Gosport and on a belting batting track at Whitemoor Lane, we got ourselves in trouble with some woeful batting. “At one point we could of easily been bowled out for 140 on a minimum 250-run deck. We scrambled to 215 thanks to wonderful knock from Scott Dawes and we felt we were in the game, but our bowling followed suit from the batting - far too many extras and an inability to bowl one side of the wicket. It was back to earth with a good reality check.”
Andrew Collins and Chris Dunn miss the Purbrook trip, but Ennew is back with Jordie Smith making his debut. Ben Rogers will keep wicket.
Paultons: Ennew, P Longland, Rogers, Pike, Barton, Dawes, Hills, L Longland, Smith, Chandhoke, Denney.
South Wilts II will look to rectify a below-par display against P & S when they make the eagerly awaited trip to Eastleigh to play SPL3 strugglers Trojans.
South Wilts II: Cranch, Smith, Litchfield, Phillips, Pittman, Pittman, Bolam, Brewer, Lewis, Blomfield, Partridge.
Andover: Ashman, Williams, Roberts, Ayers, Hooper, Knight, Smith, Nyumbu, Veettil, Jansen, Adams.
