Extracting lift and movement off the Southern Gardens surface, Prince Singh wrecked Oxford University's top order to set up an emphatic nine-wicket win for Southampton Solent University in the BUCS Championships at Totton & Eling.
Seamer Singh, who has played for Surrey YCs and is with Surrey Championship club Ashtead, took six Oxford wickets, four batsmen feathering catches to gloveman Gareth Schreuder, late of Lymington now of Warminster. The 21-year old South African snared five catches in all as the Dark Blues slumped to 125 all out.
A rain interruption meant Solent only having to chase down an abridged 105-run target, one comfortably achieved by Alton left-hander Tom South and James Deg, who plays in the Devon League for Plymouth.
With Oxford having already having beaten Surrey (the only other uni in the group), Solent will progress into the next phase of the competition. Bournemouth withdrew earlier.
In the South East group, Portsmouth rattled up 286-8 before dismissing Chichester for 212.
