Sam Ashman - targeting two trophies
With 669 runs and one match still to play, Hampshire Academy skipper Sam Ashman is a near certainty to be chosen as the Premier Division's Young Cricketer for 2026 - his aggregate getting a 100-run boost from his maiden SPL top flight century in a 58-run win over Alton.
He's also 60 runs clear (of James Degg) in Premier Division run charts.
Ashman - fresh from hitting 64 for Hampshire in a 2nd XI fixture against Leicestershire – hit 10 fours and a six in his 99-ball 100. Opener Samand Khan (50) was next highest in a 247 all out total at the Jubilee Fields.
In reply, Alton were bowled out for 199 with Sam Ruffell (71 not out) offering the most resistance.
Charlie Forshaw, who has played 16 T20 matches for Guernsey, dismissed three of Alton’s top five, including captain Scott Myers for a duck, en route to figures of 8-2-22-4.
