Sarisbury Athletic outplayed Havant in every department to seize the Southern Premier League Division 1 leadership. They bowled the unbeaten overnight leaders out for 133 to win by seven wickets and take a four-point lead into Saturday's scheduled visit to Ventnor.
On the evidence of the afternoon session at Allotment Road, Sarisbury's refreshed new-ball attack of former county professional Richard Logan and South African Mathew Fourie are going to be testing opposition.
Logan is well known in these parts, while at 22 years of age all-rounder Fourie is already gaining respect in domestic Eastern Cape CSA cricket. Bowling outswing, he's already made almost 20 appearances for Border, for whom he made scores of 70 and 42 against Easterns before Christmas.
Fourie had been due play for Sarisbury Athletic two summers ago, but registration complications meant an early flight hope.
Sarisbury's four-pronged seam attack prospered on a two-paced pitch with variable bounce. Havant's West Australian import Kieran Abrams (27) was the only batsman to equip himself as Archie Pascoe turned in a 3-28 return. Pete Hayward (22) fought hard at the tail-end of the Havant innings.
Unlike Sarisbury, Havant aren't blessed with seam options and their spin attack offered little threat as Josh Hill (38), Tom Morton (38) and Jack Robson (38) completed the formalities with 13 overs to spare.
