Sixteen year old Kit Blomfield (left) took five Sarisbury Athletic wickets for only four runs as South Wilts opened their pre-season warm-up programme with a 42-run win over Sarisbury Athletic at Allotment Road.
Bowling off-spin, the teenager ripped through Sarisbury’s lower-order as the hosts collapsed from 97-5 to 109 all out (Tom Mills 41) in response to South Wilts’ 151 all out.
Blomfield’s haul included the prize wicket of Josh Hill, while Matt Burton took 3-36 and Arthur Godsal 2-32.
Earlier, South Wilts lurched to 44-5 before a half-century by James Hayward (57) restored parity. Hayward was one of four SW wickets to fall to former team-mate Rob Franklin (4-28).
Another South Wilts teen, Matt Falconer (54) top scored in the second team’s five-wicket defeat by Calmore Sports at Bemerton.
With support from opener Ben Smith (36) and later Tom Bolam (31), South Wilts II posted 199-7, but Will Brewster (69) and Ben Johns (51) hit half-centuries in a key opening stand which set the platform for Calmore’s win.
Fawley were on the ropes at 55-6 against Cadnam at Lambs Corner, but were rescued by an unbroken century seventh-wicket stand by Callum Earl (63) and Bailey Parratt (67), who hoisted the score to 176-6.
Cadnam were handily placed at 78-2 (Ryan Cooper 43) but lost three wickets without scoring a run and finished on 151-7.
