SOUTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE CUP GRAND FINAL

Bournemouth will be anxious to avoid anything like a repeat of their last visit to Winchester’s tree lined Green Jackets ground when they face St Cross Symondians II in the Southern Premier League Cup Grand Final tomorrow, 12.30.
Back on July 18 in the opening round of West group league cup matches, they were on the receiving end of a Tom Foyle century amid a 275-4 run mauling from St Cross Symondians, the captain blazing 103 before Bournemouth limped home, tails between legs from a 127-run beating.
“We were rusty,” commented opening batsman Nick Park post match.
Since then, Bournemouth have strung together six straight wins to top a strong group containing Bashley (Rydal), South Wilts and St Cross themselves.
They clinched the ‘title’ with a five-wicket win over Bashley (Rydal) last week.
St Cross Symondians’, having used a ‘squad rotation’ system, topped the East group using 20 players in their six matches, five of which they won before losing to Portsmouth a fortnight ago.
Their potentially tougher matches against Havant and the Hampshire Academy were rained off.
There is ample car parking at the Green Jackets, where SD will be strictly enforced to comply with government guidelines.
