Sparsholt were probably relieved their Southern Premier Division 1 match against Totton & Eling was rained off in mid-afternoon – because they were looking down the barrels of a significant run chase when the game was washed out.
Totton had piled up 100 off 17.2 overs – the match being abandoned just as spinner Liam Doran had broken a century opening partnership by having James Taylor (36) caught by Joshua Banks-Williams.
Leading the Totton run making was debutant Harry Stevens, pictured by Bob Selley, who was 51 not out when the rains came.
Stephens went through the Surrey YCs system before playing regularly for Berkshire between 2013 and 2015, helping them win the Minor Counties Championship.
