Brad Neal returned from his American college studies to hit a match changing 69 not out and steer Basingstoke & North Hants’ promoted second side into a winning position against Langley Manor at May’s Bounty.
He arrived at the crease after the Bountymen had dropped from a satisfying 67-1 (Scott Dyer 35) to 89-4 and with East Woodhay teen Toby Albert (44) eased Basingstoke towards a decent total.
However, once parted, six wicket clattered for 43 runs to leave BNH 214 all out, four Manor bowlers taking two wickets apiece.
Langley Manor lurched to 12-2 but Jack Budd (36) and Oli Kelly (37) gave the innings a more meaningful look.
Ryan Connor (3-41) left the Manor 112-6, but Steve Harris (43) and Jamie Brown (36) took the visitors’ final score to within 20 runs at 194 all out.
