Aussie Thor Harradine and Tom Richards, the former Hythe & Dibden captain, marked their respective Sway debuts with half-centuries in the 1110-run pre-season warm up win against a Fawley XI at Holbury.
Harradine, who plays in the same Newcastle NSW grade competition as Sparsholt’s Joe Merlino and Fair Oak bound spin all-rounder Connor Gibson, made 52 and shared a 136-run stand with Richards, who scored 67.
Also joining Sway is another Hythe stalwart Will Young, with Dave Steadman continuing as captain.
Sway went on to make 238-7 (Jack Pinto 3-44) before dismissing Fawley for 128.
Luke Anderson had a reputation for big hitting when he arrived at Waterlooville and didn't disappoint, smacking 13 fours and six sixes in a debut making 104 at Littlehampton. Sam Robinson weighed in with 88 not out as the Ville posted 273-5. Stan Reynolds took 3-27 in Littlehampton's 156 all out.
ECB South Wales Premier League club Pontarddulais were heavily beaten in both their mini-tour Hampshire matches, St Cross Symondians crushing them by 122 runs before Portsmouth trimmed them by eight wickets in a T20 affair at St Helen's on Sunday.
Ed Ellis (79) and Charlie Gwynn (61) shared an unbroken 150-run stand as St Cross piled up 239-4 at the Green Jackets. Ben Foster's flight and guile was too much for the Welshmen, the Nottingham university fresher taking 4-26.
Suje Daini hit 65 not out as Portsmouth easily overhauled a modest 133 by the Welsh tourists.
Chris Pratt and Spencer LeClercq hit fifties as Hambledon posted a match winning 242-6 against Hampshire League visitors Hayling Island at Ridge Meadow.
Recently returned from a winter season with Western Province in Cape Town, Pratt made 51 and LeClercq 50, while Dan Mugford hit 25 before taking 3-29 with the ball.
Hayling found left-armer Shahkar Khan too hot to handle and dropped to 56-5 before being dismissed for 157.
Liam O’Connor, who scored over 500 Southern Premier League Division 1 runs for Calmore Sports in 2023, has returned to Loperwood Park for a second season.
The Casey South Melbourne spin all-rounder marked his UK comeback by scoring an unbeaten 70 in the comfortable 138-run win over a Fareham & Crofton XI at Bath lane.
He shared a century stand with Callum Greasley (51) as Calmore totalled 244-5 (Oli Hibberd 32) before Matt Morgan (3-20) scattered Fareham’s top order. They were 106 all out.
