Hook & Newnham Basics will want to bury the nightmare of last season’s Southern Premier League T20 Cup final performance when they face Havant once again under the Ageas Bowl floodlights on Sunday evening, 7pm.
Twelve months ago, they were routed by nine wickets after managing only 106-9 in their 20 overs, a target Havant gleefully polished off with Ben Walker, left, hitting 49 not out.
Seven of that Hook side play again tomorrow night, with skipper Josh Buckingham vowing to do much better this time around.
Hook have been relegated from the Premier Division this summer, but have been in good T20 form, with a two-wicket semi-final win over St Cross Symondians the pick of their victories.
Havant have been dominant in T20 cricket in recent years. This is their sixth cup final appearance in eight years. They have carried off the trophy three times, including 2020 and 2021.
Havant: Hopson, Hindley, Walker, H Gadd, Metzger, Barnard, M Hayward, Jerry, Stone, Loat, F Gadd.
Hook & Newnham Basics: Josh Buckingham, Sam Lockwood, Richard Willcocks, Harry Robson, Matthew Buckingham, Harry Warner, Rupert Armstrong, Ollie James, Jack Murrell, Will Gardner, Anik Divecha.
Admission is free of charge but spectators are urged to wrap up warm as it may be a tad chilly come nine o’clock !
