Sparsholt ended a near barren eight-match spell in emphatic manner, thrashing Liphook & Ripsley by 111 runs before beating Hartley Wintney to clinch a place in the Plate T20 semi-finals.
The Winchester club had lost seven of its previous eight Southern Premier Division 1 matches - they tied with Rowledge - and is more or less accepting that relegation is just around the corner.
“The club regards the season as an important learning process for its young players, so pulling off two results like this after not winning a game for two months is a real bonus,” said chairman Andy Worth.
The teenage Williams brothers Ollie (70 not out) and Josh (63) are two players already catching a few eyes at Locks Lane – their century stand pointing Sparsholt towards a winning 240-4 against Lipohook.
Olli followed up his unbeaten knock with a 3-25 return as Liphook collapsed from 62-1 to 129 all out, Ryan Covey (48) top scoring before Tom Ley and Freddie Banks took two wickets each.
