Hampshire teens Ben Mayes and Manny Lumsden featured as England's Young Lions pulled off a tense 27-run victory over Australia to secure a place in Friday’s final of the 2026 ICC U19s Men’s World Cup.
They will face five-times CWC champions India, the winner of Wednesday's second semi-final against Afghanistan in Harare. The match is being broadcast live on Sky Sports Cricket.
Thomas Rew’s 110 led England to 277-7, Mays (the CWC's leading run maker) playing some crisp leg-side shots in his 24 before being yorked.
That left England 60-3 until a decisive century stand between Rew and Caleb Falconer (40) swung the match.
A double strike by Lumsden (2-55) reduced the Aussies to 134-5 after which Australia captain Oliver Peake’s 85-ball century threatened to steal the game away, despite battling with cramp late in his innings.
But England’s bowlers held their nerve as they again shared the wickets around, Winchester College schooled Seb Morgan taking 2-33 and then the tenth wicket catch which dismissed Peake for 100 and left Australia 250 all out.
