Harry Trussler struck his maiden ECB Southern Premier Division century as St Cross Symondians went on a 323-run scoring spree before dismissing Totton & Eling for 232.
The 91-run victory, which coincided with overnight leaders South Wilts being held to a draw by Lymington, restored St Cross to top spot, albeit only one points ahead of the Salisbury club after 11 rounds of matches.
The talented Trussler, also a lead hockey player with Winchester, hit 135, clearing the Southern Gardens boundary rope three times alongside hitting 16 fours.
St Cross weren’t in the best shape either when Trussler set off. The Foyle brothers – Tom for a boundary laden 29 – and Harry (0) had gone alongside teenager Ben Foster. St Cross were 45-3.
But Trussler kept his cool and played a major part in successive century partnerships with Charlie Gwynn (48) and Tom Lewis (50) which totally took the incentive away from Totton.
Trussler eventually departed at 284, perfect timing for Ed Ellis to swat 30 off 13 balls, including three sixes off Joe Bracey, who finished with 5-64 as St Cross lost cheap wickets in the closing overs.
Totton needed a similarly big innings if they were to threaten the St Cross total, but they best they got was from top order trio Owen Morris (48), James Taylor (46) and Boswell Chapungu (36).
Gwynn (6-66) wheeled away with his left-arm spin for 18 overs as Totton fell away from 153-2 to 232 all out, Matt Haworth taking 3-27.
