Ben Fisher took a well earned afternoon off from his Biochemistry degree course at Oxford University’s Magdalen College to take five Sarisbury Athletic wickets and set up a comfortable victory for Calmore Sports, who move into joint second place in Southern Premier Division 1 one point behind beaten leaders Ventnor.
Fisher, who is in the third year of a four-year Degree and Masters course, wrecked Sarisbury’s top order with the new ball, leaving the hosts 26-4 before running out Ricky Rawlins.
Nathan Feltham decided attack was the best form of defence and swatted five sixes in a quick fire 69 which, with subsequent support from Rob Franklin (37) and Jacob Harris (44 not out), saw Sarisbury Athletic to 212-8.
Calmore lurched to 14-2, but left-hander Ben Johns is in such good form this season and his 78 in a century stand with Shawn Johnson (41) put the visitors back on top. Max Bailey and James Manning completed the formalities.
