Promising Ventnor cricketer Sam Mills is swapping his cricket bat for his rugby boots having just hit a maiden hundred for Hampshire's youngsters in the rain abandoned ECB Under-18 County Championship match against Sussex YCs at Blackstone.
Mills, who has just secured an opening spot in Hampshire's Academy side, hit 108 of Hampshire's 431-8 before rushing back to his Isle of Wight home to pack his bags for a flight to Cape Town, where he will link up with Rugby School's touring side.
Bashley Rydal's Adam Bourne (77), Oli Webster (73) and Seb Rowlands (68) made runs after Sussex had posted 303-8 dec.  They were 86-0 in their second innings when play was abandoned as a draw.
