Ricky Rawlins hit an unbeaten century while Josh Hill bludgeoned a quick-fire 69 as Sarisbury Athletic swept into this Sunday’s National Village Cup Hampshire county final with a comprehensive 140-run win over Bramshaw.
The pair came together after Sarisbury – national semi-finalists last season – reached uncertain 48-3, but shattered any hopes Bramshaw had of an upset with stand of 125 for the fourth wicket.
Rawlins went on to make 106 not out, while Hill was out for 69 just as he was threatening to inflict more heavy punishment on a Bramshaw attack which he flogged for a double century in last season’s NVC.
Chasing a formidable 267-8, Bramshaw lost the potentially prolific Andrew Hart to a skied catch of the first ball of their innings and only Simon Booth (60) put up much resistance as they slipped to 127 all out.
Teenager Joe Lewis hit an unbeaten 66 as Easton & Martyr Worthy eased into the county final with a comfortable eight-wicket win over visiting Overton at Cockets Mead.
They won with seven overs to spare, chasing Overton’s modest 142-8 (Sam Miller 38) – but will be anxious to improve on the accuracy of their bowling when they go to high scoring Sarisbury Athletic in Sunday’s final. Easton gifted Overton a staggering 30 wides, with Casper Byers (13) and Joey Mitchell (11) the chief culprits.
