BASINGSTOKE and North Hants Cricket Club began a week of celebrations to mark the club’s 150th anniversary with a special dinner at May’s Bounty.
There will also be a number of games to make the club’s landmark starting on Sunday at 11.30am, when a Basingstoke and North Hants XI face a Hampshire Cricket League XI.
On Tuesday, Basingstoke will take on the MCC and the following day will entertain a Thames Valley League XI.
The last game of the week is on Friday evening as a Cyril Thompson XI face a Guy Jewell XI in a T20 game at 6pm.
May’s Bounty is also due to host the final of the Don Lynch Aylward Cup on Tuesday July 21 – and Basingstoke will be disappointed if they aren’t in it.
They will travel to Dogmersfield in the semi-finals after beating Aldershot in the last eight. Mitch Stokes top-scored with 48 as the Bountymen surpassed hosts Aldershot’s total of 119 with four balls to spare, winning by six wickets.
Dogmersfield knocked Hartley Wintney out of the competition, surpassing the village side’s total of 145 to win by six wickets. The other semi-final will see Yateley host Eversley, who beat Cove by four wickets. Yateley reached 202-2 on the way to a 102-run win over Fleet.
