Alton crashed to a fifth successive Time pennant defeat as Ben Walker produced a Premier Division best 6-24 to bowl the visitors out for 150 and set up a seven-wicket win for Havant.
Bowling right-arm seam and nipping the ball off the seam in the damp conditions, Walker struck three times with the new ball and then removed another three Alton batsmen when he returned to the Havant attack.
His early victims were Rob Heywood, Jack Myers and opener Alex Hammond, who made 27 of Alton’s first 44 runs.
Mark Heffernan, with a patient 47, began to give the Alton innings some substance and with support from Abeed Janmohamed (18) and Richard Antony (17) eased the visitors to 133-5.
But the return of Walker and two wickets for left-arm spinner Chris Morgan (3-64) saw Alton lose their last five wickets for 17 runs and be 150 all out.
Havant player/coach Pete Hopson was suitably impressed by Walker's outstanding performance.
"It was one of the best spells of seam bowling seen at Havant Park for a long time,' said Hopson.
"The downpours on Friday left the wicket wet and he was always going to be effective in those conditions.
"But it was still a fantastic piece of bowling as he consistently put the ball in the right areas.'
Batting conditions became easier as the game progressed and Rob Gibson made Havant’s task more of a formality with an eight-boundary 41.
Julian Ballinger (2-51) nipped out Gibson and Harry Hovey in quick succession – taking his season’s haul to 35 in the process – but there were no further alarms as Pete Hopson (54) and Andy Gorvin (37) steered Havant to victory.
