DIVISION 2: TICHBORNE PARK COMING UP HARD ON THE RAILS

Tichborne Park are coming up hard on the outside in a late bid to secure a Southern Premier League Division 2 promotion spot.
In denting Hambledon’s own ambitions with a rain adjusted 42-run win at Ridge Meadow, Tichborne moved into second place in the log, seven points behind leaders Calmore Sports.
“It’s going to the wire, but we’re going to have to win our last two games against Hartley Wintney and Trojans, there’s no questioning that,” said Queenslander Justin Reid, who has succeeded Will Allam as Tichborne captain.
Reid (58) and fellow opener Martin Cheyney (64) effectively won the match for Tichborne with a 123-run opening stand.
With spin duo George Harding (4-37) and Indy Chakrabarti (3-44) breaking through, Park dropped to 197 all out.
Set a rain revised target of 186 off 46 overs, George Marshall (58) put Hambledon ahead of the clock, but when he became a second victim of the influential Doug Butler (3-27), the Dons collapsed.
Eight wickets fell for 23 runs as Hambledon imploded against Tom Allam (3-47), elder brother Will and leg spinner Ed Berry.  They were dismissed for 144.
Sparsholt’s home match with Bashley (Rydal) II was rained off.
