Teenager Hampshire off-spinner Brad Taylor plans to tip toe his way back into cricket tomorrow SAT following a serious ankle ligament injury.
The England Under-19 World Cup captain is pencilled in to make his comeback for the Hampshire Academy against ECB Southern Premier League rivals Havant at Havant Park, 11.30.
He has been side-lined for the past nine weeks after damaging his ankle ligaments in a fall on the steps leading on to the main Ageas Bowl outfield earlier this season.
Taylor is looking forward to making a first positive step back.
“The ankle is still sore, but I bowled eight or nine overs in the practice nets in midweek and it seemed to be okay. But I need to be careful and not overdo things. Plans are to just have a bat and not bowl,” he said.
Academy team-mate Jake Goodwin has his eyes set on a third successive SPL hundred, having hit centuries in the past two games against Lymington and New Milton.
