Connor Browne narrowly missed out on scoring his second Southern Premier League hundred, but had the satisfaction of laying the foundations towards Langley Manor’s match winning 315-7 against newly promoted Fair Oak at Knellers Lane.
Browne, pictured above, hit 96 and shared a substantial 176-run opening partnership with Azeem Hamid (62) as the Manor set up a fifth straight Division 3 victory.
With Graham Noble rattling a quick fire 60, Langley piled up a formidable 315-7.
Fair Oak were soon 10-2, but Assad Abbas (49), Charlie Kemp (47), Andy Surman (43) and Rufus Bullough (36) were among a host of players who ensured the side gained maximum batting bonus points from the 46-run defeat
Noble took 4-30 and Hamid 3-54 for Langley, while luckless Fair Oak skipper Tom Hockenhull drove home in a damaged car - a souvenir Abbas six-hit landing on the back seat after smashing the rear window.
Langley Manor lie fractionally behind Basingstoke & North Hants II in the log – the Bountymen trimming Waterlooville by four wickets, despite the efforts of Jon Hudson.
Nick Beadle (44), Tim Jackson (32) and Hudson (30) helped the visitors to a respectable 229 all out after being put into bat at Mays Bounty.
But a strong-looking Basingstoke side polished off the runs with Dan Coombes, on holiday from Australia, hitting 74, opener Richard Vinn (61) and young Joe Oates 41 not out.
Gosport Borough inflicted more misery on SPL3 basement side Hursley Park with a thumping 189-run win at Privett Park.
Kiwi Mike Ruffell (80), Craig Stares (77) and Conor Regan, with a rapid 50, put the Hursley Park bowlers to the sword as Gosport Borough piled up 292-5.
Hursley, already eight points adrift at the bottom, were dismissed for 103, Regan and Stares sharing six of the wickets..
Graham Barrett (74), Paul Hawkins (60) and Robbie Hadfield, with an unbeaten 48, carried St Cross Symondians II to a comfortable eight wicket win over their Lymington counterparts, whose 214-9 containd scores by Connor Moors (49), Adie Hunt (31) and Drew Robinson (29).
Havant II and newcomers Ryde avoided defeat for the first time this season – their basement clash at Hardings Shute ending in a tie.
The Islanders were bowled out for 229 – Tom Morgan (47), Stu Robertson (35) and Josh Proctor (30) top scoring - with teenager Bobby Dyer sending Hampshire U17 selectors a reminder with 4-39.
Simon Loat (43) and Andrew Galliers (29) provided an excellent platform for the visitors but despite Pete Hayward (26) it wasn't quite enough to earn a first win.
