The prospects of South Wilts seconds clinching an outright Southern Electric Premier Division 3 promotion place is entirely within their own hands.
They enter the five-match home straight against St Cross Symondians II at the Green Jackets Ground on Saturday (1pm) nine points adrift of second placed Trojans and 21 shy of table toppers Waterlooville.
But Tom Pearce’s side still have both the top two to play, starting at Trojans on Saturday week.
South Wilts gave their promotion hopes a significant boost with a 107-run win over visiting Havant II at Bemerton.
They were on top throughout the game, with William Wade (63) and Pearce (33) providing a sound start from which Joe Cranch (70) and later Sam Pittman (26) were able to guide South Wilts to 243-8.
Left-armer Marc Burton, who finished with 5-28, removed both Havant openers, including former Minor Counties run machine Steve Dean.
Only Simon Loat (22) and Gareth Ransley (29) made any real impact as Burton, Paul Draper (3-11) and Pearce (2-22) dismissed the visitors for 136.

Table topping Waterlooville had their match with Gosport Borough washed out after heavy overnight rain, while Trojans 186-7 (James Truscott 56, Simon Williams 41) proved beyond St Cross Symondians II, who made 155 (Smith 43, Colmer 38).
Lymington second have eased their concerns about an instant return to Hampshire League cricket having won the County Division 1 title only 13 months ago.
A recent poor run of results has seen Lymington drop into the danger zone, but a comfortable 136-run victory over Totton & Eling has allayed their fears.
Oli Kelly (60), Drew Robinson (45), Cameron Grierson (37) and Conor Moors (37) guided Lymington to 269.
Totton, now in second from bottom place, replied with 133.
Basingstoke & North Hants second team moved up to fifth spot in SL3 after a crushing eight wicket win at bottom side Alton II.
Skipper Richard Vinn won the toss and elected bowl and the home side were soon in trouble, as opening bowlers Harry Smith (3-24) and Keith Harsham (1-10) reduced Alton to 26-4.
It was then left to the spin twins of Dave Pistorius (4-8) and Keith Harris (2-24) to complete the job as the home side were shot out for 97.
Extras ended up top scoring with 17, while number 10 Stephan Ball scored 16 thanks to the only six of the innings, as did Howard Gadsby batting at number six.
In reply, Vinn and evergreen batsman Leon Nurse put on 63 for the first wicket and by the time Nurse’s excellent knock of 60 came to an end the seconds had reached 82-2. It was left to Andy Giles and teenager Max Harsham to see the side home.
They will be going for their fourth straight win when they entertain second placed Trojans at May’s Bounty next weekend.
