In Southern Electric Premier League, Division 2, Portsmouth have got off to a good start after chalking up two straight wins.
But their batting has not fired yet as they entertain OTs & Romsey at St Helen’s, Southsea.
Skipper Dave Henderson joked: ‘At this rate, we’ll be a side that gets promoted with the least amount of runs in a season ever. That’s our aim!
‘We’ve had two wins and we are averaging 135 per innings.’
Unbeaten Fawley will be without injured Australian medium pace bowler Paul Kruger when they visit local Premier Division 2 rivals Langley Manor at Knellers Lane.
The Queenslander has suffered an injury to his lower back, sidelining him for the early seasons wins over OTs & Romsey and Hursley Park.
While the Oilmen chase a third straight win, Langley Manor look to pick up the pieces from last week’s disappointing defeat at Romsey.
Langley Manor: Renders, G Noble, R Noble, Budd, Browne, Brown, Spencer, Harris, Peters, Alford.
Fawley: Gates, K Earl, Parratt, Leach, Royan, E Earl, C Earl, Woolgar, Smith, Godden, Locke.
Tichborne Park’s visit to winless Hursley Park will coincide with skipper Will Allam’s last outing for three weeks. The TP captain is to undergo minor surgery on a leg injury, but won’t play again until June.
Sparsholt hope big hitting Stuart Tognarelli can bring an end to their run scoring drought at the expense of fellow Premier Division 2 strugglers Hambledon at Ridge Meadow.
Runs have been at a premium for the Winchester side this season, barely scraping together 100 runs in losing both games so far.
The addition of Tognarelli, alongside Simon Straker, should bolster Sparsholt’s fragile top order.
Like Sparsholt, Hambledon have yet to fashion a win this term.
Sparsholt: Worth, Ruffell, Jenner, Tognarelli, T Foster, D Gough, J Vokes, G Whiting, Dilley, J Foster, Straker.
Paultons face a busy weekend of Premier Division 2 and Davidstow Village Cup action. Spinner Andrew Denney and Rob O’Brien miss the SPL visit to winless Bashley (Rydal) II, but could be back for the cup tie against Hursley Park at Whitemoor Lane. Paultons, who celebrated a double over Hambledon last week, call up Andy Collins and Julian Drake for the Bashley trip. Bashley may have Oxford University UCC batsman Luke Webb available as they bid to halt a two-match losing start.
Bashley (Rydal): Webb, S Ridley, Friedman, Maher, R.Taylor, Neal, S.Morris. N.Taylor, Eede, Gates, Read.
Paultons Richman, Robinson, Wateridge, Hall, Collins, Drake, Feltham, Linge, Murrell, Lamb, Pike
