Three Sparsholt batsmen hit half-centuries as the Winchester side trimmed winless Bashley (Rydal) II by 55 runs to move into second place in Southern Premier League, Division 2.
But the victory that has edged Sparsholt above Tichborne Park and Calmore Sports in the log may have come at cost as Richard Kenway has suffered what looks a nasty hamstring injury in the field.
Earlier Kenway (27) and Stuart Tognarelli (54) set the scene for Sparsholt with their fourth half-century opening partnership of the season, which Banks (50) enhanced, writes Mike Vimpany.
Tom Foster (20) and Kiwi Kyle Ruffell (20) each chipped in before Dave Gough, left, blasted a six and seven fours in a quick fire 54 not out which took Sparsholt on to 277-6.
Ruffell struck a double blow, removing Bashley openers Ryan Taylor and Ross Grierson (22).
But Chris Vaughan (39) steadied the ship, leaving teenage paid Patrick Holly (67) and Patrick Lewis (34) to take the reply on to 187-3.
But Bashley’s last seven wickets fell for 35 runs against Ruffell (4-36), Foster (2-22) and Mike Haworth (2-43) and they were dismissed for 222.
Bashley are fastened to the bottom, already 22 points behind the nearest safety rung.
While Bashley’s dilemma was heightened by Hartley Wintney’s win at Fawley, Trojans’ prospects grew with Tichborne Park’s loss to Hambledon, who repeated their Village Cup triumph there seven days earlier.
Hambledon’s success was largely based on South African Shane Nkomo’s 110 which, alongside George Marshall (52) and opener Will Bond (31), guided the visitors to 267-5.
Queenslander Justin Reid (60) started well enough, but Tichborne ‘s batting crumbled against Rhidan Chapman (4-40) and James Atkinson (3-16) and they were all out for 145.
When Adam Freeman nipped out both Hartley Wintney openers and the visitors subsequently slipped to 69-4, Fawley must have thought they were on a good thing.
But a stand of 172 between Jack Hersh (86) and Patrick Joseph (74) enabled HW to total of 262-7 beyond Fawley’s reach.
Andy Parratt (44) and James Nason (37) guided Fawley to 73-1, but Scott Baldwin’s spell of 4-27 left the oilmen off the pace and 187 all out.
Tom Cowley (64) and Rob Pittman (52) hit half-centuries as South Wilts II coasted an eight-wicket win over Paultons at Ower.
Nathan Feltham (35) and Lee Wateridge (28) gave Paultons a 62-run start, but once the partnership was broken Christian Pain (4-31) and Pittman (3-32) ripped through the innings.
Paultons limped from 122-9 to 164-9 on the back of Simon Ennew’s 42 not out.
Robert Pike (2-31) got two early wickets, but Cowley and Pittman secured a comfortable win for the visitors.
