South Wilts seconds will be crowned Southern Electric Premier Division 3 champions if they beat relegated Totton & Eling II at Southern Gardens on Saturday, 12.30.
They need 15 points to be assured of the title after knocking Waterlooville out of the promotion race with an emphatic 135-run win at Bemerton. South Wilts progressed to 93-3 (Will Wade 34) before Joe Cranch broke out, hitting two sixes and nine fours in a fiery 91 which effectively decided the match. The Pittman brothers Rob (34) and Sam (30 not out_ pitched in as SW raced to 240-7 (Max Goddard 4-46). The Ville suffered a fourth defeat in five matches as they stumbled to 105 all out, Dom Webb (3-27) and Paul Draper (3-12) doing the damage. Trojans will be near enough certain to take the runners-up position if they beat Waterlooville at Stoneham Lane. Nigel le Bas (55) top scored as they totalled 209-9 at Lymington, who were dismissed for 138 (Drew Robinson 50). Dan Young (115) and Paul Hawkins (87) shared a double century opening stand as St Cross Symondians II piled up 275-5 before bowling Totton & Eling II out for 102. James Christian thumped a career-best 156 (three sixes and 23 fours) as Havant II reached 338-9 against relegated Alton II. Bobby Dyer hit 58 and took five wickets for three runs as Alton were bowled out for 104. Gosport Borough rose to third with a six-wicket win at Basingstoke & North Hants (178).
