Adam Rouse goes back to his academy roots when he plays for St Cross Symondians against Charlie Freestone's Hampshire fledglings at the Green Jackets Ground, Winchester, on Saturday. Rouse, who signed a two-year contract with Kent in the winter, has been released by the Spitfires to play for St Cross tomorrow; now he faces a battle to keep the Kent gloves, with Sam Billings having returned from the IPL. The Basingstoke raised batsman/wicketkeeper played his early Premier League cricket with the Hampshire Academy. With 24 dismissals, he is currently the most successful wicketkeeper in the County Championship. He has also made some useful scores in Kent's middle -order.
In-form Joe Weatherley, fresh from his sensational 92 off 47 balls (seven sixes and seven fours) for Hampshire 2nd XI in a twenty20 match against Sussex yesterday, leads the Academy, who gives a debut to promising Oxfordshire teenage quick Rory Hipwell.
