BASHLEY [RYDAL] enjoyed a trophy laden 1986 season, with the Hampshire League County Division 1 championship one of their three successes. They had won County 2 two seasons before.
Western Australian pair Jamie Snadden and Dave Lewis played a large part in Bashley's triple triumph, Snadden scoring 475 runs and snaring a CD1 best 46-wicket haul, while Lewis helped himself to 466 runs. Both Aussies hit centuries. A promising Graham Pardey (who is still playing 35 years on) chipped in with 342 runs, while Lorne Hunt (22), Don Read (21) and Don Whilock (16) gobbled up almost 60 scalps between them. Bashley won 11 of their 12 matches in a rain affected summer, with Hursley Park finishing runners-up.
