As part of this year’s Portsmouth Festivities, Portsmouth Cricket Club celebrates 175th anniversary of cricket in the city on Sunday 26th June with a match with a MCC team from Lords.
The match starts at 11:30 and everyone is welcome, free entry. If you haven’t been before, the pavilion has a wide view out over the pitch with the sea in the distance, there is a bar and there will be a BBQ too. You can also bring a picnic blanket and sit back and enjoy the cricket on the beautifully cared for grass around the pitch itself.
As well as the cricket, in the pavilion there will be the “A History of Cricket in Portsmouth” exhibition in the pavilion with photographs, scorecards and memorabilia on show for the first time. This is an incredible collection curated by cricket devotee Dave Allen, documenting cricket in Portsmouth and a look is highly recommended.
