Winchester’s Billy Taylor and former Southern League cricketer Lee Savident produced the two top bowling performances in the inaugural Second XI Championship match on the Ageas Bowl Nursery Ground played 20 years ago in June 2000.
Taylor took ten wickets in the match, including a defining 7-34 return for Sussex in the second innings, after Savident had become the first player to celebrate a nap hand on the Nursery Ground with 5-93. Sussex, having piled up 459, won by an innings and three runs. The match was umpired by Alan Bundy and retired Glamorgan cricketer Kevin Lyons.
