Teenage Hartley Wintney talent Harry Broderick celebrated his selection for next week's ECB Supa-Four's Regional Tournament at Loughborough with a superb 142 for Hampshire Under-18s against Kent YCs at Winchester College today.
Broderick, who will play for the South & West alongside Academy team-mates Kamran Khanna, Charlie Mountford and Harry Petrie, struck 23 boundaries in his hundred and shared a significant 134-run stand with promising Alton all-rounder Jude Wright (77 not out) as Hampshire posted a formidable 373-6 off 104 overs.
Opener Wilf Fontaine-Jackson (50), who scored his maiden ECB Southern Premier League century against St Cross Symondians last weekend, made a sound fifty to get Hampshire off to a good start.
Hampshire continued batting on day two and finished with 426, Wright being caught for 98, two short of a deserved century. Totton & Eling's Tommy Cheater made 31.
Kent were then whisked out for 151, James Barker and Kamran Khanna sharing six of the wickets before Hampshire batted again, reaching 140-3 by stumps. Charlie Mumford is 66 not out.
