The loss of five top order wickets for 29 runs headed the Hampshire Academy for a 58-run defeat by ECB Southern Premier League rivals Totton & Eling at Southern Gardens.
Responding to Totton's 220, the Academy lost Sam Ashman and Dom Kelly to Sam Beer (2-29) but Wilfred La Fontaine Jackson (27) and Joseph Eckland raised the reply to 96 before a three-wicket haul by Joe Bracey (4-40) wrecked the middle-order.
The Academy slumped to 125-7, with the only support for Eckland (64) coming from Ethan Baker 27) as the innings slipped to 162 all out.
Bothwell Chapungu, with ten fours in his 57, Josh May (31) and Brighton Mugochi (30) top scored for Totton, with home grown all-rounder Tom Cheater taking 4-34 and Kelly 3-22.
