Havant maintained their Southern Premier Division title challenge with a crushing nine-wicket victory over the Hampshire Academy, who are now casting anxious glances at the bottom of the table. Whereas Havant are one point behind Bashley (Rydal) and 11 adrift of South Wilts, the Academy need some more points to ensure they stay clear of the danger zone. The Hampshire youngsters were outplayed as seamers Cam Prentice (3-8), Richard Jolley (3-34) and Andy Gorvin created significant inroads. Only Tom Scriven (18), George Pardoe (15) and Tom South (14) managed double figures as the Academy collapsed to 97 all out. Unusually for Havant, only two wickets fell to spin. Havant took their time polishing off the target, but once Stu Ransley (27) and Gorvin (30 not out) engineered a 50-run start, he outcome was never in doubt. |
