Hampshire Academy prospect Joe Eckland hit an undefeated 48 to steer England Under-19s to a seven-run D/L victory against their Sri Lanka counterparts in the second ODI at New Road, Worcester.
The 18-year old batsman/wicketkeeper hit six boundaries and shared a key 83-run partnership with Somerset's George Thomas (86) as England emerged from 112-4 to achieve a superior run rate to that of SL in a rain affected match. Sir Lanka made 211-6 (Dom Kelly 1-33) off 35 overs.
Eckland played in all three of England's ODI wins, while Kelly and Eddie Jack were also capped in the 'Test' series which preceded the ODIs . The Academy pair each took two wickets in the opening match at Chelmsford.
