It was a tale of two batsmen in the county under 17 club final as Hook and Newnham Basics edged out Compton and Chandlers Ford on a superb May's Bounty track to lift the Kerry Cup.
Hook’s Alex Brown (blue shirt) belted an unbeaten 95 in just 63 balls including two sixes and 13 fours as the north Hampshire side totalled 181 for 4 after choosing to bat.
Greg Littlehales (2 for 27) was the pick of the CCF bowlers as the ball regularly disappeared over a lightning outfield or into the car park.
In reply Dorset’s Luke Deacon (98 not out in 73 balls) went five better but Compton and Chandlers Ford closed 16 runs adrift as Hook conceded fewer boundaries.
Rupert Armstrong (2 for 21) starred as they added the Kerry Cup to their under 15 Justice Cup win earlier this year.
