Dan Harris hit an unbeaten 114 to ease Alton to a seven-wicket win over Bournemouth – a result which leaves the Lions second from the bottom of the ECB Southern Premier League table.
The former Northampton Saints batsman, in his debut season as Alton captain, struck 14 boundaries and underpinned a successful run chase that saw Bournemouth’s 230-6 overhauled with seven overs to spare.
Harris enjoyed a useful start with Ryan Covey (23) before adding an important 80 with Joe Paul (25) for the second wicket.
But it was his unbroken partnership with the ever-consistent Scott Myers (55 not out) that guided the Brewers to victory. It was Myers’ fifth half-century of the season, his 558 runs being the fifth highest in the Premier Division.
Earlier, Adam Davies top scored in Bournemouth’s 230-6, three of his top five colleagues making starts before Chris Park’s unbeaten 47 gave the innings a stronger look.
