Unpredictable Lymington have rattled a few cages by rolling over Havant and South Wilts in recent seasons – but consistency is an element of their game skipper Simon Beetham will want to improve on this summer.
A side capable of beating (or losing to) anyone on their day, Lymington have bolstered their ranks with the signing of Calvin Dickinson, pictured, who Hampshire recruited after some fine performances for Essex 2nd XI and Oxford MCCU last summer.
And another as yet unnamed overseas all-rounder will be joining their ranks in late May.
Island raised Dickinson (he played Hampshire League cricket for Ryde in his teens) was a prolific run scorer for Cherwell League club Shipton-Upon-Wychwood last season.
He’s playing as a batsman/keeper for Hampshire IIs, but will get a break from the gloves as vice-captain Ed Ellis plans to travel down from Oxford each week.
Groomed at Sparsholt, Ellis has emerged a real talent behind the stumps. In Beetham’s absence, he will captain Lymington at South Wilts.
As always, Lymington have the capability of making as real nuisance of themselves and when the likes of Ryan Scott and Richard Lock fire with the bat, and Matt Metcalfe strikes gold with the ball they can beat anyone …
