Relegated Andover have signed 20-year Hampshire 2nd XI all-rounder Asher Hart for the upcoming Southern Premier League Division 1 cricket season.
Hart, who joined Hampshire from Durham last winter, played for St Cross Symondians in 2017.
“I think Asher wants the opportunity to bat a bit higher – probably opening – than he did at St Cross and work on that side of his game,” explained Andover opener Ali Hooper, who expect to be fit himself after a traumatic injury-ruined 2017 season.
“Asher should like the pave and bounce at London Road for his bowling.”
Hart made two senior Hampshire appearance last summer, taking 3-17 on debut against Cardiff MCCU and hitting 36 during a key century partnership with Calvin Dickinson against South Africa A.
He played five times for Hampshire in the recent Super 50-over tournament in Barbados.
On the debit side, Andover have lost spinner Danny Foy to Surrey Championship side East Molesey, where he will link up with ex-Lion Jonty Hadfield.
But Luke Graham is planning to return and will be a useful addition to the seam department.
