Relegation threatened Liphook & Ripsley had no answer to an industrious and faultless innings of 161 in 148 balls by Hampshire’s Asher Hart, leading to a crushing 129-run defeat by Andover at London Road.
Liphook, who visit Sussex Premier League Division Two leaders Mayfield in the National Village Cup semi-final on Sunday, took an early advantage with Suman Ganguly and George Neave quickly reducing the hosts to 22-3.
However, Hart took the fight to the visitors, amassing 22 fours and two sixes - even as wickets fell intermittently at the other end.
Hart’s chief partners were Charlie Ayers (44), with whom he shared a stand of 85 - and skipper Matt Hooper (21).
Remarkably, Hart’s was the ninth wicket to fall before Andover were all out in the last over on an impressive 272, Ganguly finishing with 4-43.
The Liphook top order failed to establish itself. Only George Neave (39) showed any flair and authority before being caught and bowled by spinner Charlie Ayers (3-26).
Dismissed in the 32nd over for 143, Liphook’s demise was once again the result of impatience and poor shot selection. Aiden Jansen (3-3) and Mike Adams (3-40) profited.
