Tom Friend’s silverware haul continues to grow. Already a championship medal winner with Bashley (Rydal), Ventnor raised Friend has won the ECB Southern Premier Division batting award with 621 runs – and has now been named August ‘Cricketer of the Month’ by www.vimpsatthecrease.com website, the monthly awards being made in conjunction with Cricket-Hockey.com, the Downton-based sports equipment specialists.
​Friend began the month with a half-century against Alton, made three separate scores of 30 or more, but more specifically hit an unbeaten 84 against Bournemouth, an innings that secured the title for Bashley (Rydal).

Calmore Sports left-hander Ben Johns is Division One Cricketer of the Month after scoring 236 key runs in his side's successful quest to avoid relegation. Johns hit an unbeaten 58 against OTs & Romsey before rounding the season off with a century against New Milton, his second hundred of a 651-run summer.

Joe Cranch hit a staggering 424 runs in August as South Wilts II battled successfully against relegation from SPL2. His run haul included a career-best 185 in the final match of the season against Langley Manor. Roy Honeybone picture.

Dan Wimble fought an eventually losing battle for relegated Fareham & Crofton, but he did his bit scoring Dan Wimble 236 runs and taking 7 wickets. He made successive scores of 63 (Hambledon), 93 (Hythe & Dibden) and 74 (Fawley) in the first three weeks of August and completed the season with 523 runs. Ryan Dwyer picture.
