Ben Johns has been named as Southern Premier League Division 1 Cricketer of the Month climaxing a series of key individual scores with a century against New Milton which has helped Calmore Sports steer clear of relegation.
The young left-hander hit 102 in the thumping 161-run win over the Green & Golds, a result that sentences OTs & Romsey (along with Ventnor) to SPL2 cricket next term.
Johns struck 16 boundaries in his 102 – which took his season’s aggregate to 651 runs – and shared a formidable 145-run stand with James Hibberd (66) as Calmore motored to 228-4 before dismissing New Milton for 67, Mark Lavelle taking 3-17.
