Scott Baldwin hit an unbeaten half-century to guide Hartley Wintney out of uncertain waters and to an eventual five-wicket win over Southern Premier League Division 2/3 East rivals Tichborne Park.
Chasing Tichborne’s 163, HW made a positive enough start through Will Kerr (24) and Angus Brown (20), but when 49-1 became 73-4 their reply reached the crossroads.
But the New Zealander took the game away from Tichborne with an 11-four 56 not out which, with support from James Mulvey and Dan Nightingale, got the visitors home with time to spare.
Tichborne Park earlier got off to a flier with opener Tom Allam blasting five boundaries in a quick fire 26 before Anthony Parson (3-22) began to create inroads and cause the hosts to slump to 60-4.
Will Allam (38) and Ed Primmer (26) doubled the score, but from 125-4 Tichborne dropped to 163 all out, Jamie Teale (4-36) the architect of their demise.
