Eastleigh’s Barton Peveril College are through to the British Sixth Form T20 finals in Derby next Wednesday (June 23) after a captain’s innings by Matt White carried them to victory over Truro, who set a competitive score of 123.
Prospects didn’t look good for BP when they lost both openers cheaply, but Ed Davis smacked 36 off ten balls to drag the side back into the regional final.
Captain and wicket-keeper, Matt White, was the key to the run chase, batting through and finishing on 52 not out. He was ably assisted by Ashneet Chahal, who finished 16 not out, their partnership seeing Barton over the line with eight balls to spare.
Coach Simon Woodley said: “This was a very impressive victory with several key players missing, including the usual opening batting pair and the opening bowler.
“We now prepare for finals day against the other regional winners. This is the second time in three years Team BP have reached national finals day, showing the growing strength of the cricket programme, run in partnership with Hampshire Cricket Club.
