The teenage Turner brothers from Ringwood, Alex (left) and James became the youngest set of twins to play in an ECB Southern Premier Division match when they helped Bashley (Rydal) to a six-wicket win over Basingstoke & North Hants at the BCG.
The two 16-years took time out from their hectic GCSE examination schedule to play a part in the victory.
Called up as a late replacement, James soon got into the action by taking catches to remove Basingstoke captain Mitch Stokes and then Craig Williamson to leave the visitors 97-7 at lunch.
Then when Bashley set out to chase down 151, Alex Turner had to ride out a hostile new-ball spell from David Griffiths, the former Hampshire and Kent pace bowler, to get his side off to a 38-run start.
He made 12 before being caught but, having already made two recent half-centuries for Bashley’s SPL3 second team, retains his place for Saturday’s visit to Burridge.
Once their individual roles were over, the Turner twins were back to their studies, with a spot of Biology swatting on the agenda.
Andover currently boast two sets of twins in their ranks, the Duckworths and the Hooper, Ali and Matt
* Hursley Park also boast a set of twins, the Flynn brothers. Will frequently plays in England's Physical Disability side, while Tom hit 82 in the club's 182-run victory over Ryde last weekend.
