Ben Francis celebrated his maiden ECB Southern Premier League hundred as Bashley (Rydal) earned a ‘winning draw’ from a run laden affair against Totton & Eling at the BCG.
Just over 500 runs were scored for the loss of only nine wickets, Totton making 229-3 in response to Bashley’s 272-6.
Francis (left) hit 13 boundaries in his 105 and shared a 171-run start with James Turner (66) before being dismissed at 210-1, having made half the Bashley total.
Jacob Gordon (39) chipped in before Brighton Mugochi (4-32) removed Francis and three of Bashley’s middle-order.
The way Bothwell Chapungu opened up it appeared Bashley’s total might be under threat. He sprayed 16 fours around the BCG, hitting 91 in a 138-run opening stand with Hampshire prospect Fletcha Middleton.
But Totton were conscious of a potential lack of depth to chase down the target and Middleton went on to make 85 not out when stumps were drawn with the visitors 229-3.
