Bashley (Rydal), runners-up to Havant in the ECB Southern Premier League last summer, have appointed Steve Wilson as head coach, coordinating both the club’s senior and junior sections.
A fully qualified ECB Level 4 coach and previously at Millfield School, Wilson has extensive links with Dorset junior cricket and is currently Head Coach at Bournemouth University, whose indoor team recently qualified for the BUCS Super 8’s indoor trophy at Edgbaston.
The 31–year old former Poole Town all-rounder, an Elite Coach mentor for the ECB, will take up his duties next month as Bashley begin preparations for the 2018 season.
He was with Bashley on a consultancy basis last summer, keeping a watchful eye on his brother Mitch as he made a successful comeback from a long-term back injury.
Talking about his appointment, Steve Wilson said: “Bashley is already a special place to play cricket, a club with strong foundations in place both on and off the pitch. My aim is to build upon and enhance this foundation.
“In my exciting new role I aim to positively impact upon the club’s players from experienced seniors all the way down to young players embarking on their journey in cricket.
“I see this as an incredibly exciting project, one where I know I’ll be working with great people in taking Bashley to the next level, both inside and outside the boundary rope.”
