Bashley (Rydal) has been named the ECB Southern Premier League’s top recreational cricket ground for the second year running.
The New Forest club enjoyed the best overall pitch and outfield markings (by umpires and visiting captains) in the Premier Division, with a combined total of 42.78 out of a possible 50.
Bashley had the second highest mark, behind Basingstoke & North Hants, in Division 3, where the second team plays its matches.
Michael Porter, who skippers Bashley (Rydal) was delighted with the news that Bashley had once again won the Premier League’s prestigious George Winkles Memorial Trophy.
“The six guys who prepare the BCG do a fantastic job and the award is a testament of the enormous amount of work they do,” he said.
“The BCG is now a superb venue and, hopefully, the players will reward them with a Premier championship in the not too distant future.
“We’ve won the 50-over and Time cricket pennants in the past two seasons, so we need to go just one step further.”
